Group Consulting

When my family started homeschooling 18 years ago, one of the very first pieces we realized that we needed was community. We needed people to do life with. Within a year or so, we joined a local homeschool co-op.

Over the years, with our 9 kids, we would use a hybrid classical program, tutoring, hybrid science program, early college, co-op, online courses, IEP programs and much more. We also used public and private schools in that mix.

After being in a co-op for several years, I joined the Steering Committee. Years later, I would become the Co-op Director. After stepping down, that group went through a terrible split and I helped one of the groups start a brand new co-op from scratch. I became the Treasurer for the new co-op and led the process to file our 501c3 paperwork with the IRS.

As a mom, I am deeply committed to helping my kids find community. As a homeschool leader, I am highly committed to helping groups start and run well. The pain of division in a community you love is something intensely personal and lonely. As a consultant, I help groups navigating everything from startup to problem solving and everything in between.

For me its more than a business…it is a high calling to support leaders in building communities where relationships flourish and kids thrive!

Testimonials

“As a first time Homeschool Co-op Leader, Sarah has been instrumental in helping sort out conflicts within our group. One of those conflicts happened on our very first co-op day! Imagine the discouragement I felt after spending a year preparing and praying for our co-op, only to have a huge conflict on our first day. Thankfully, I found Sarah online and she was a God sent. She got back to me quickly and helped me resolve our issue, in a matter of minutes during our video chat. I felt so relieved to have someone to turn to for support and encouragement. The best part was she gave me clear action steps for resolving conflict in our group. I have used Sarah’s services one other time and I’m sure I will be contacting her again. She has a ton of experience, knowledge and is very approachable. Thank you Sarah for offering such a unique set of services for us homeschool parents and leaders!”

Sarah offers a great overview of homeschool types & how to get one going. It helped to see where ours was at comparison -wise and purpose – wise. I realized we need to do what you had done: restructure ours. Our handbook is missing/ much needed. Unfortunately, when we inherited this co-op, that document wasn’t left for us. Our group has experienced growth, but hasn’t really increased participation.

“I love meeting with Sarah. She gave me actionable items that I could execute immediately while also keeping a long-term vision in mind. Her experience in both the homeschool realm and leadership enables her to provide direction with wisdom and grace. She equips you with the necessary tools to confidently take your next steps. She is definitely someone you want to work with!”

“I am so thankful for Sarah’s quick response to my queries on the legal documentations needed to start a new co-op. She gave very thorough and helpful answers to my questions. I really appreciated the practical and clear explanations which helped make sense of the various filings our co-op needs to make.
